Baked Whole Lemon Pudding

Gotta admit, I was sooo nervous in making this, my first in dessert department! Unlike cooking that I can just add much and much chill if anything goes wrong and it would turn edible, with dessert, one mistake and that's it. It's just unforgiving. So I chose the most simple dessert recipe from Donna Hay's recipe book. Eggs, single cream, butter, flour, icing sugar, lemon and mix them together in a food processor, bake for 30 minutes. And yet, somehow the textures wasn't quite right. I mean, it tasted delicious enough and lemony fresh, but a bit… sticky. I dunno, maybe it was what it should be like. Hmmm…

2/52 Brunch: The Prive

Brunch

.: February 12, 2013. Tuesday :.

The last day of Chinese New Year holiday and we set off to The Prive, at Keppel Bay island for, what else, a brunch. This was a second visit for us. The Prive located overlooking the marina, just the perfect spot to sip coffee and read books.

~ Look how heavy the clouds were. And it was exactly this kind of weather that makes it such a perfect day to sit and daydreaming ~

It was a cloudy day, with the sun shying behind the clouds, such a perfect moment to sit outdoor and enjoy our meal. We ordered a pancake (with a honeycomb! *excited*), wagyu beef burger, and eggs benedict. Oh love the eggs benny. And… as often than not, we ordered too many. In the end, we didn't finish those beautiful stack of fluffy pancakes :(

Canal Houses

In late 2012, me and hubby got a chance to visit Amsterdam. It left a strong impression on me with its many canals and adorable red brick houses. I heard about those canal houses before and seen the picture, but I never thought I'd fall in love with it. Seeing Amsterdam first hand really made a difference, huh? Maybe it's a fact that Amsterdam was the first European city I ever set foot or the city itself is indeed beautiful, either way, I heart Amsterdam and the way it inspired me.

1/52 Brunch: Jones the Grocer

.: Saturday. February 09, 2013 :.

Brunch

Alrighty, the first entry for this project. Well, we went to Jones the Grocer unplanned, wanted to try the Barracks at first. Turned out the Barracks cafe was closed that morning, so we wandered aimlessly around Dempsey Hill in search of another likely cafe. Dempsey Hill is a secluded area full of conservatory, old, colonial building surrounded by plenty of greenery. Though you got that "secluded" feeling, it's actually within a short distance away from the hustle and bustle of Orchard district. So I'd like to think of Dempsey Hill as a little oasis.

And since we were at Dempsey Hill, we weren't too worried about not finding some cafe to eat other than the Barracks cafe. True enough, just a few steps away Jones the Grocer invited us in. It has a humble look from the outside, simple yet classy inside with a "clean" look. I love it. It has a high ceiling so you don't feel stuffed. I ordered a Spanish Eggs 'en cocotte' and iced black forrest coffee, hubby settled for a traditional english breakfast and iced cappuccino.

Brunch 52 Project

Brunch

On a typical lazy Saturday morning, hubby and I start our day having brunch at our favorite places, and it isn't many, believe me, it's either a French bistro, a dim sum, or a Japanese restaurant. Always those three, and I'm thinking I want to take a break for a little while and trying out the other brunch places. Hence, this little project of ours. Brunch 52, to try out different cafe for brunch weekly, how fun is that? A different place every single week. And I think we need that, we both love cafes and making a mission out of that certainly adds some flair, don't you think?

We started off a bit late, we're already in the second week of February and usually any 52 project commenced in the beginning of the year. Oh well, don't mind that. Let the brunch hunting begins!

Company Trip to Phuket

.: January 18 - 20, 2013 :.

Our team went to Phuket in January 2013, total 18 of us, It was a fun escape from our busy work life. In this trip, instead of opting for island hopping, we went for rafting!!! And I was glad we did, it was so so so much fun! I love rafting. Ah and I got to try ATV too, it was a bit scary in the beginning but after I got a hang of it, I could do it for hours!

Other than the rough activities, if you go to Phuket, gotta try the massages too. I got my fair share of massages, together with a colleague of mine. Using her phrase; this company trip was a beauty treatment and relaxation trip for us haha. Everyday we went for a massage and even in our last day there, we went to a massage parlor twice.

~ Some of my colleagues bought a flying lantern. You write your wish on the lantern paper and let it fly. Thai people believe that this flying lantern helps you taking your wish closer to God. ~
