Hubby's Birthday Dinner at Jaan

.: March 20, 2012 :.

For hubby's birthday, I booked a table at Jaan and to be honest, didn't really expect to get a really good table, but look at this! We got a super nice view of city scape at night.

I love the food presentation and don't worry, the taste and flavor match the outlook beauty.

When we first read the menu, hubby and I thought that by 55" Rosemary Smoked Egg it means they cooked it for about 55 seconds. Well, that wasn't the case, the waiter explained that the chef smoked the egg for 55 minutes. The half cooked egg tasted so rich in flavor.

It was my first time eating foie gras with broth, and it tasted good. Oh the buttery goodness and I definitely love the winter broth.

Hohoho these dessert baby were sooo delicious I kept smiling when I ate it. That's how you tell an outstanding dessert. Oh in one of the dessert they sprinkled it with pop rocks, so in his 32nd birthday hubby actually tasted his first pop rock. Geez, I tried pop rock since I was little :D It was funny to see his expression when the candy popped lol.

.: February 14, 2013 :.

I'm so spoiled, on Valentine's day, it was hubby who gave me chocolate *ashamed* and present with a little note.

It was a nice outdoor dinner and we could hear frogs singing (frogs do singing, don't they?) somewhere near. Totally love the place… and the food. Oh the foie gras is to die for.

Back to Singapore

Argh my craving for ketoprak is killing me and I thought this morning I finally could quench this craving. But the "waroeng" nearby was closed *wailing*. So we had the famous "Bakmi Aloi" for our breakfast.

Aahh my ketoprak... I heard from Tik that the uncle whom we bought our ketoprak from during our college time is still there, providing the old good late night light dish for every college student every night in front of Golden Bowl boarding house! Well, next time we're in Jakarta, I'll make sure to visit him haha

Old Gang

Yay today despite our mismatched schedule and not to mention Jakarta's crazy traffic, we managed to get ourselves to the meeting point hehe. Me, Tik, and Di met up at a new mall, Central Park near Taman Anggrek mall. Miss Pam was supposed to meet us there but she couldn't make it. Too bad, ever since graduation, I haven't seen her. Well, anyway, we had dinner at Waraku and I ordered a tomato udon. Bad choice. It was ridiculously salty!
Ah almost forgot, Tik shared a wonderful news. One of our gang members, Lin, is officially pregger! Yaayyyy! Am so so happy for you dear. Hopefully I can join the club soon and we can go through that together haha

Greetings from Jakarta

We are here for our friend's wedding and before the holy matrimony ceremony this afternoon, we had "bakmi ujungpandang" for our breakfast. This noodle is hubby's fave dish and I can see why!

Delay, Delay, Delay

Aaarrrgghh Air Asia is getting worse and worse, so many delay cases recently and now my flight is being delayed for two hours!
If only we knew, we didn't rush through our dinner.

Dinner @Jewel Box

.: Saturday. June 14, 2012 :.

Okay, this time hubby really surprised me by arranging a super special dinner in a cable car. I didn't even know there's this type of dinner in Singapore. We were entitled for three rounds of cable car and we were dining inside. One course was given each round. From Mount Faber to Sentosa Island and back is considered one round, 30 minutes ride/round. So yeah, we were one and a half hour in a cable car.

Ever since my first gondola ride, I was always disappointed in how fast the ride ended. And now 1.5 hours,  that was the longest cable car ride and the little girl in me giggling haha.

They gave us two complimentary glasses of champagne before the ride and two glasses of wine that accompanied dinner. Perfect.

One thing though, while there was wind swirling into the cabin when we were in between the towers/stations, it got pretty hot and stuffy whenever it reached the station. But that's hardly a complain, not when you can see a sunset unblocked from the cable car.

Birthday Dinner @The Cliff

.: March 20, 2012. Tuesday :.

It's my dear hubby's birthday! We went out for a special French dinner at The Cliff in Sentosa that I booked two weeks in advance before. When we arrived at the hotel resort (where the restaurant is), we were a bit surprised to see that it looked more or less exactly like hotel resort in Bali. Like, the more we stepped into the resort, the more we forgot that we were actually in Singapore. It was a nice feeling. The waiter gave us a good table with an awesome view (I specifically requested what table I wanted in my email reservation. A table overlooking the sea *grin*). Not that we could see the sea in the dark, but well...

We ordered six course degustation menu. They had a four course menu as well and fred almost ordered it, but… come on, four petite dishes? A girl gotta eat! So we ended up with six course.

I had foie gras before, one big foie gras and… yikes, me not like it and couldn't comprehend why people like it so much. I mean, I could eat foie gras but I didn't enjoy eating it. Didn't appreciate it. But all that change after I tasted this foie gras from The Cliff. Oohhh… heaven! It was soft and creamy, like eating tofu, a little crisp on the edge. Even think about it can make me recall what it tasted like. We're definitely going back to The Cliff just for this baby.

Our dinner ended with a cup of tea. It was ten plus, we had a good night and we thank God for the life together He has given us.

Happy birthday, love.
